The N5SAC General class was a huge success, and it was due to each and every one of those who participated!

Thanks go to all participants, but especially to Chief Marty Wade KI5ZYC and Greg Kent KK6AXF, for making Field Day a pretty big success. We literally could not have held the event without Chief Wade’s backing and support. And to Randy Hale W5FOM for his one-man show out on the lawn with his spooltenna, DX Commander mast, and Yaesu rig running in a pop-up gazebo! He wowed every new general and many passersby. 

Let us not forget the very fine food slaved over by the lovely Mrs. Webb KI5GMT and Ann Fiorda KJ5LWR.

Thank you to the W5SRA VEs led by Chuck Dockery N7UQ and Tony Fiorda WB8ZWI, joined by Tom Noller AB5TN, Jim Szot N5JS and that other guy. The after-class testing effort was well conducted.

And thank you, Chick-fil-A at North Garland Road, for making lunch for us.

We had 9 amateur radio operators in attendance, with 8 successful upgrades to General so far. 89% pass rate, which will become 100% shortly, illustrates the quality of our participants. With Randy’s help, they all had the opportunity to make their first “AG” transmission before leaving.

An additional $120.00 was donated to the club at the class. If I can get agreement, I would like to use some donated monies next year for PR banners and ask the RWB planners to find us a safe, not-too-out-of-the-way place for radials. The foot traffic could be nice. Always trying to grow the hobby.

It is fair to say, after this third class, we have introduced our numbers at least twice back into the hobby and eventually some RACES & CERT members. We are having a positive impact for the FD and the city.
